Almost everyone has trepidations about visiting the dentist, no matter how many years we find ourselves sitting in that chair thinking:
“How much will this hurt?”
“Did I floss enough?” “
Ugh, I hope I don’t have any cavities this time…”
For children and adults who have special needs, whether it’s emotional, cognitive, physical, developmental, mental, or sensory, visits to the dentist can be particularly challenging and confusing—for both the patient and the dentist.
Since 1995, Dr. Cochran has been performing hospital dentistry for children and special needs patients. Currently, he visits special needs outpatients at the Springfield Regional Medical Center.
